dear chapter meetings

Dear Chapter Meeting,

Thanks for being an excuse to dress up on Mondays.
Thanks for being a homework break.
And thanks for being a reminder of the many blessings in my life.

You were a secret password and handshake, candle passings, and songs.
You were an excuse to hang out with sweet friends, encourage, and be encouraged.

Thanks for being a reason to sing, a reason to pray, and a reason to hoot and chant.
You've filled my 6pm Monday night slots for the past 3 1/2 years and I doubt I'll ever forget you.

Love,

Caitlin

the weekend of sing, fish and sun

Three SING performances this weekend left little time to do otherwise. Sunday however, was an exceptionally beautiful day and a group of friends couldn't help but relocate study time to the refreshing outdoors, more specifically, Cameron Park. With blankets and a hammock we reveled in the sun, a weekend of Sing, and most importantly each other.

it's coming...

1st Place All-University Sing 2009: Tri Delta with "Fresh Pickens"
This week, the Baylor bubble waits with baited breath for the unveiling of Sing 2010. As usual, rumors have flown wild for weeks about various groups' themes and potential. And as usual, it's all talk- at least until this Thursday when six weeks, and for sing chairs, a year's worth of work and practice are unveiled as the curtain goes up for six performances spanning two weekends. If you've never experienced Sing, it's hard to really understand it. And I'm sorry dear friends at other schools that have "something that's just like Sing, just smaller," but there's nothing like Baylor's All- University Sing. Yes, it's ridiculous. Yes, it's crazy. Yes, it's incredible. AHHHH- so excited for Club Night! And although I can't obviously unveil anything about Tri Delt's act at this time, I will tell you that we're back and ready to fight!

sisters in the family

As a senior, you start to take note of the most important things about college life. For me, one of the sweetest and dearest parts of my college experience has been my family in Tri Delt. Today, we are welcoming a new member into our family and it has made me reflect on the girls I have grown to love so much.

When I first joined Tri Delt, I hoped that I would get a big that I liked and could have fun with. God gave me so much more that I imagined. The girls in my family are incredible, deep-hearted women that exude the best things about Tri Delt. They have loved me unselfishly and steadfastly, taught me about being a woman of integrity and showed me true friendship. We laugh a lot, share our hearts, and love each other immensely. I know that when I leave Baylor, I will be taking them with me in my heart and will keep in touch with them for many years to come. My hope for our new little member is that she too will find the love and fellowship that has helped to mold me into the person I am today

happy birthday, ddd

Happy Birthday, Delta Delta Delta
On Thanksgiving Eve 1888, approximately one hundred and twenty-one years ago today, two woman at Boston University decided to form a new organization. "Let us found a society that shall be kind alike to all and think more of a girl's inner self and character than of her personal appearance." And so with it's first four member, the sorority Delta Delta Delta began.

Some people are quick to judge Greek organizations, claiming that they are just ways to buy friends or party through college. While I can't say that Greek groups are perfect, I can say that I have been changed by the last three years I have spent in Tri Delta. In Tri Delt, I have watched two hundred plus girls with one goal in mind, accomplish great things. I've learned about what excellence and what it means to strive for excellence in everything you do. I have seen and experienced examples of steadfast love- the kind of love that is an imitation of Christ. In Tri Delt, I've learned, I've served, I've been changed by the girls around me and by the mission that guides us. And my story is only one among thousands. For one hundred and twenty-one years, Tri Delta has been changing lives. On the eve of Thanksgiving, I'm thankful that I am among those lives changed.

a full heart

My heart is incredibly full and joyful after a week of Baylor Homecoming. Throughout the weekend, several people asked me how it felt to be in the middle of my final homecoming as a student. Today, in the quiet and rest from chaos of activity, I have realized that this was the best homecoming I have ever had. Naturally there were moments when my heart twinged with sadness, but as often as I could, I reminded myself to soak it in: dancing on the front row of a Tri Delt First Place Pigskin act, standing at the parade with some of my favorite people in life, cheering for our team (even as they lose), laughing with friends that have become family. Yes, my heart is a little sad today, but also incredibly full and thankful. Baylor will always be home and the memories will last forever.
